The Outer Worlds 2 - Alexandria Monastery

The Alexandra Monastery is one of the most stunning man-made creations in Arcadia. The observatory processes information gathered by the Matriarch statue's giant telescope, but also has a front-facing portion for members of the public seeking to be educated on the Paradigm. In terms of visual cues, the monastery takes inspiration from monastic buildings and high-tech science museums.

When the Player arrives, the monastery has been taken over by a rogue faction operating under orders from Augustine de Vries, seeking to use the observatory to discover the location of upcoming peace talks between Auntie's Choice and the Order of the Ascendant. To sabotage de Vries's plans and cut off her support network, the player must navigate this massive complex, ultimately confronting one of de Vries's henchman, the monastery Abbot's personal Seer who has turned traitor.

I was given this POI after the blockout was done and I used it as the base to fully recreate and reimagine what the area looked like. I created tilekit pieces, and custom materials such as the final dome, decals, marble planets, holagrams, and multi-leveled destruction of the totem. I was also responsible to come up with a workflow to get the overlands vista within this hard load level. I developed a workflow which utilized the HLOD system in Unreal to generate the vistas.

I would like to note that this area would not have been possible without the help and initial pass from my awesome colleagues Marchand Venter and Rain Supple, specifically the Bath house and the ball puzzle to name a few.
